The main town in the district of Kona is Kailua, named for the two
(`elua) currents (kai) which swirl through Kailua Bay. Other famous
towns in the district of Kona are Holualoa, Honalo, Kainaliu,
Kealakekua, and CAptain Cook.
The coastline of Kona stretches from
`Anaeho`omalu, famed for its fishpond, to Manuka (pronounced
MUH-noo-KAH), named for a robber who accosted people as they
traveled that area along the old Mamalahoa trail.
