The Wild Irish Roses first bloomed in 1996 and  was the first of the current Irish bands on the Big Island.
The seeds of the Roses were planted by lead singer  Duncan (AKA Leilehua Yuen) when she realized that there was a serious shortage of Irish-American and  rollicking pub music on the Island of Hawai`i.       Friend and fiddler Mary Collier agreed.
Their first gig was on board a special Capt. Bean's St. Patrick's Day cruise. "That was pretty funny," Duncan laughs. "Mary's bow kept getting hung up in the fishnet they have drapped over the electronics in the ceiling above the stage!"

Duncan is the author/compilor of the official Wild Irish Roses Songbook. Music@ilHawaii.net.

Why, of COURSE, The Roses would LOVE to play for your party!

Since then, various musicians have graced the rose boquet, including Joannie Dunn, Renee, and Ursula D`Angelo. Currently it comprises Duncan (AKA Leilehua Yuen) on vocals, Mary Collier on fiddle, and Elizabeth Eason on viola.
Where did the Duncan name for Leilehua come from? "I've got a lot of middle names," Duncan replies. When I perform on the Mainland with my Mom, no one can pronounce 'Leilehua Yuen,' so my Mom suggested that I use one of the middle names, and her favorite is Duncan."
