   Leilehua's kapa work appeared in the April 1998 issue of O`ahu Quick Guide, alongside a story on island crafts. 

   Leilehua specializes in using the techniques and designs of pre-European Contact Hawai`i, using native materials and tools whenever possible. she studied ka hana kapa under the direction of kapa master Carla Freitas.
