January 29 - Kamehameha Schools Career Day Manu and Leilehua go back to school -
to talk with Kamehameha Schools students about choosing art as a career. In addition to their cultural work,
Leilehua and Manu own LeiManu Designs, and are manufacturers of custom sculptural interior and exterior lighting.
Leilehua and Manu apprenticed under Leilehua's father, Don Yuen, the creator of the Malama Torch.

April 25 - Kumanu at the Ka`u Coffee Festival Leilehua Yuen joins global fusion music group, Kumanu, in Pāhala. Kumanu last year released their debut CD, "Earth Patriot," for which Leilehua provided a chant and some background vocals. Kumanu's work reflects the diverse multi-cultural backgrounds, from Native Hawaiian and Native American to African American, Asian, and European roots of the members. Several well known Hawai‘i-based performing artists comprise Kumanu, including Damon Williams, James McWhinney, Rupert Tripp, Jr., Tioni Tam Sing, Bruce David, Doug Espejo, Adam Kay, Randy Skaggs, Marsha Hee, Kamaluhia Woolley, Gregg Perry, and Howard Shapiro. April 29 - Hawai`iana Live: - Impliments of War Leilehua Yuen shares stories and chants of Hawai`i's great battles. She is joined by expert craftsman Manny Mattos, maker of traditional Hawaiian weapons. May Day is Lei Day in Hawai`i! Friday, May 1, Nā Mohala o Hāla`i holds their annual Lei Day opening ceremony at the Mo`oheau Band Stand in Downtown Hilo. The informal program includes kanikapila, hula jam, storytelling and lei making demonstrations, and displays, including the Hawai`i County Lei Festival Kāhili Collection, created and curated by Leilehua and her haumana (students). May 13 - Hawai`iana Live! at the Hilo Palace Theater - "Mo`olelo o nā Lei" Kamaluhia Wooley joins Leilehua this week to share hula and mana`o of the history, beauty, and variety of Hawai`i's lei. The County of Hawai`i Lei Festival Kāhili Collection also will be displayed on-stage. The kāhili were created by, and are curated by, Leilehua and her students. Special National Trails Day presentation Features two honored guests, Anakona Thomson, in her 80s the oldest documented
person to have walked the entire extant portion of the Ala Nui trail system on Hawai`i Island, and
Denise Lawungkurr Goodfellow, A member of the Kunwinjku peoples of NW Arnhem Land, she is the family snake-catcher and a dab hand at catching
pigs with a castnet! She also mediates in times of family trouble.

, 38 Haili St. Hilo. June 27-28 - Pu`uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park Establishment Day Cultural Festival. Join Leilehua and many of Hawai`i's knowledgeable traditional artists, artisans, and cultural practitioners in this two-day festival of Hawaiian arts and culture. The event opens Saturday with the Processional of the Royal Court, and closes Sunday with the Royal Recessional. Learn to craft a kāhili, an ipu heke-ole, and participate in many games and activities. Pu`uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park.

August 2009 August 15, Stories of Mauna Kea, Leilehua Yuen, Manu Josiah, and their students present Stories of Mauna Kea, blending chant, hula, storytelling, and song about this sacred and majestic mountain.
